Logic 9 Apogee Duet/Input 2 Issue/Stereo Mono

I'm using the Apogee duet to record bass on input 2 and am running into issues in logic when I click on the the stereo/mono OO circle at the bottom of the tracks channel strip. I was just experimenting and when I clicked it to mono, only the left channel would work, which seems normal. When I click it back to stereo, I get no signal. You would think it would just come back on right?

When I go to add a new track I'm selecting mono, input 2. I notice that the bass track shows two signal flows (stereo?). Is this due to the channel strips effects. Is it stereo or mono?

Are most of the bass channel strips in stereo?

You are recording a mono source.

If there is a stereo effect on the inserts the channel strip defaults to stereo.

Thanks. It seems like most of the presets are.
