Why does everyone forget the bass player? "What are you guys doing after the show?"

We bass folks want an Amp Suite and Pedal Board made specifically for our low end needs too! Please?

I agree and have already sent this wish to Apple. I find that most guitarists I get to record actually prefer to use their own amps and cabs, and even though I usually get them to agree to allow me to take a DI feed from the guitar, we nearly always end up using the mic'ed amp when it comes to mixing.

With Bass it is the other way around, it is usually recorded DI, we may re-amp from Logic through a bass amp, but it would be terrific to have a dedicated Virtual Bass Amp offering the quality of Amp Designer.

    kind regards

Bass for all your low end needs.

I think we're probably the b-ace in the hole for version X...

    Cheers and blessings!

I cannot imagine doing one that sounds any better than Ik Multimedia's Ampeg SVX. It sounds amazing.

I imagine it's in the works, but who knows?

In the meanwhile, there is AmpegSVX, which just sounds beautiful.
On the less expensive but still excellent side, there's Virtual Bass Amp...

The SVX is indeed pretty cool, and one of the guys at Gallien Krueger informed me yesterday that they are close to releasing a GK bass amp modeling plugin. Personally, I like to record THREE bass signals at once into Logic. One DI via the Avalon U5, the 2nd one being live, mic'd (Ashdown ABM 500 into a Randall Isocab/AT 4040 with a 15 db pad), and the 3rd being completely dry, and ready for modeling/processing. I then bus the three together to taste!

Gentlemen, Ampeg SVX may indeed be wonderful, but the idea here is to raise and discuss wishes for developments pertaining to Logic Studio and Express, this isn't about 3rd party AUs.

    kind regards

True Enough. Sorry about that... I would certainly like to see a Logic Bass Amp Designer type of plug with the various bass amps emulated, mic selection and positioning, etc etc. Heck, maybe Apple can model some of the sought-after bass DI's as well???

It would be great to see a Bass pro in Logic. Don't know how Apple neglected it. I can't wait to get my hands on the Ampeg SVX the demo sold me right away.

Apple do seem to have neglected bass players. When I first heard about the Logic 9 upgrade I was sold instantly because much of the hype was surrounding the new guitar amp and pedal board sims. The importance of a bass amp plugin seems to me because, as Markdvc says, many engineers wind up using a bass DI.

Even from my point of view, as a guitar player/recording engineer who enjoys producing his own music, a bass amp plugin would be beneficial as I would find the plug and play aspect of it practical for when I record the odd bass part.

Let's just hope they ran out of time and intend to include it for Logic 10!
