Hard drive question

My current internal drives:

350G Main Drive
2 x 250G configured as RAID 0 for Samples/loops etc
1 x 400G for music projects, esp. Logic songs and audio

I've just bought a Velociraptor, 300G and wondering which of the above to swap out.

The RAID sample collection occupies 350Gb but I could possibly farm the ESX library to another drive. My treasured Ivory kit is on here and it's fast enough for now, although only for about 60 voices.

OTOH, all the project audio is on the projects drive.

Or would the Velociraptor be best as the main drive, where presumably when the going gets tough my Mac uses the HD to supplement RAM?

Which swap would benefit Logic operation the most?

And why did you buy a 300 drive then? A bigger one could hold all of your samples. And don't forget, a Unix disk should not be filled above approximately 70% or it will get slow.

a colleague was selling it.

I appreciate the 70% issue.

I guess the question ( refined) remains:

In which part of my matrix would this drive contribute the most?:
my home disc
my sample disc
my project disc?

Peter, AFAIU, this applies to Drives on which the OS resides, but is not a requirement for Content only drives, such as typically found in a DAW for storing Audio or Samples?

kind regards
