Hidden Regions

I just got MOJO Horns. They suggest that if you want, say, four alto saxes you can load them into a single instance of Kontakt, This saves memory as the overhead is the same as for a single instrument. So far OK. I give them each their own MIDI channel and play the parts in changing the global channel each time on my M-Audio Oxygen 88 keyboard.

Now here's the problem - the regions generated by each part are hidden underneath each other which makes editing a given region in the MIDI editor difficult. Is there a way of scrolling thru the regions when they are stacked in this way?

    TIA Jay

Hi Eli - long time no speak - I hope you're out there! Jay

It sounds like you're recording all parts on one track with each pass covering the previous region.

Try using "New Track with Next MIDI Channel".

    Thanks CSeye

Sounds logical - I'll give it a try. The important thing is to not be running multiple instances of the patch in Kontakt because they're about 0.5 GB each.

    Thanks again, Jay

The suggested command results in several tracks (as many as you create) assigned to one instance of your instrument.

You'll see several tracks in the Main window (with MIDI channels in sequential order) but only one channel strip in the mixer.

    Hi Jay,

CSeye is exactly right. You need to have multiple tracks all pointing to the same channel strip, with each track having a unique MIDI channel.

TIP: If you are also using your multi timbral instance of Kontakt with multiple outputs, you can use the Aux tracks that are used for the outputs, for MIDI as well. Add them to the Track List. Once they are in the Main Window, make sure to set the MIDI channel on each one in the Inspector to correspond with the MIDI Channel of the part it is receiving it's signal from within Kontakt.
