Logic 8 How do you apply dithering?

How do you apply dithering in Logic 8? This book on mixing I'm reading says it should be applied, unless you are bouncing to 32 bit.

I looked dithering up in the manual and it doesn't really explain how to apply it. It says there is POW-r dithering, but doesn't explain how to apply it?

Is it a plug-in? Is it supposed to go on the master fader or what?

    thanks a ton

When you bounce down, the requester that comes up has an option for dithering.

In Logic you can only bounce to 8, 16 or 24 bit.

Only dither if this is your absolute final master, ie burning to CD (which has to be 16 bit)

If there may be any more processing to the mix, either by you later, or by a mastering engineer, don't dither (and don't reduce to 16 bit either!)

    What they said...

Also, if you're just making listening mixes, try experimenting with the different dithering algorithm choices and see what you notice between their results. You might be surprised!
