Having dipped my toes into Garritan, I guess the trumpet is well designed to flatter the demos, or vice versa. However, I can;t get it to be as responsive to my playing as I'd like. For starters, it doesn't have velocity dynamics or even sample layers as far as I can tell.

Any recommendations for a plugin that will get me as close to a solo jazz trumpet facility as possible?

Depends on the horn... I recently did a pretty good flugelhorn type solo for a project using an analog synth patch and a bunch of CC data and pitch bend info to make it "speak" more realistically.

I'm not really sure samples can do it, kinda like guitar: simple things are ok, but anything like a solo, it doesn't sound right for some reason.

Mark - thanks will look at Chris Hein again
George - I know what you mean - I just thought trumpet sampling might have caught up with piano sampling by now

wow, pkm, when I listened to the first few demos I though it was very good but something missing, then I heard 'My Friend in Cairo', then 'Bukovino', and the demos kept getting better. Nice

    I love this:

Hey Pete, I know you asked for a plug-in but you should seriously check out the Jupiter-80. This thing knows what you want and it's got what you need. "That's a FACT"

I'm currently working on a violin solo as an intro and seriously (a very very simple violin solo may I add), OMG, is there a violinist stuck in my keyboard????? The technology on this board caters for exactly what you described.... "responsive to my playing".

Hi Jay - thanks for link :) it looks like a truly scary instrument - it's a long time since I've looked at actual keyboards - my last acquisition was a v-synth, which I love xxx

Everything else has been plugins, since I more or less shut down touring.

The demo sounds as though it was recorded on an ambient mike rather than DI, which is less than optimum to judge the quality of the sounds, although the violin sounded very good indeed. Until your post I was looking for sample modelings ' The Stradivarius' on the distant horizon :)

The sounds on this board are truly breath taking, it's a games changer. Try one out pete, your original post was subconsciously asking for this technology...
