Logic X Logic iPad app can only receive commands, not send

    I have logic remote installed on my Ipad 3. It connects to Logic on my current generation MBP. When I click controls on the laptop, the software on the ipad reacts (eg, I click play on the computer and the iPad indicates that it's playing).

    I can't however get any buttons on the iPad to control the laptop. For example, if I press record on the iPad, the button depresses, however doesn't actually send the command to the laptop. This is the same for 'all' of the buttons.

    It's as if there's a firewall or something blocking the commands in only one direction.

    I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I've updated OSX, iOS and logic to the latest versions trying to fix it (which I hate to do for risk of slowing down the ipad!). I've also disabled the firewall on OSX.

    Also, this behaviour is identical when using Garageband on the laptop instead of Logic.

    By the fact that it's connecting, I'm inclined to think that it's just a straight out bug. Any suggestions?

    There should definitely be 2 way communication between logic and logic remote. Here, running LPX 10.2.4 in OSX 10.10.5 on a Mac Book Pro Retina 11.3 late 2013 model, along with a 2012 iPad 4th generation running iOS 9.3.2, everything works as expected. It may indeed be a problem with some setting in your network.

    G'day Mark, Thanks for that. You got me thinking about 'other network issues' and it jogged my memory. About a year ago I installed I cracked it open and, indeed it was blocking incoming connections.

    After two weeks of screwing around, it's all fixed now. Cheers :)
