Logic Pro (X) Novation 49SL MKII Touch Tempo and Logic X

I've recently purchased the Novation 49 SL to control Logic X. However, I have found I am unable to control the tempo using the Tap Tempo or the BPM functions on the keyboard. Is this known problem or glitch and is there a work around for it?
I have also found when I assign the B3 organ rotor speed to the Mod joy stick and save the settings in Auto map. The rotor speed control is lost when the B3 is used in a new track. Again is there anyway around this ?
