Logic 9 Original Mackie Control firmware update issues

Hi everyone, I'm new here and looking for some help.

I just inherited an original Mackie Control. I am trying to get it to communicate with Logic. However when I hold down the "select" button on channels 1 and 2 I do not have the option to use the logic control protocol, only mackie control and HUI are options.

I thought this could be fixed by a firmware update, however that process is failing. I can not get the unit to update from v2.0 when following the instructions from Mackie. It seams I have tried everything.

    Any ideas?

Mackie Control mode is the one you're after. It's fully supported these days.
The only thing you will need perhaps, is the lexan overlay for the Logic program

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I thought the overlay was a purely aesthetic thing added on top of the surface? If so it won't add any support as to why logic will not recognize the unit. My mac recognizes the midi ports on my interface. I even get a signal from my meter on my interface that a signal is being sent from the control surface to the midi interface, but yet Logic will not sync with it.

Yes, it is purely aesthetic, but you'll need to know what the buttons do!
Have you gone into the Controller Preferences page and set it up? You need to assign the ports etc.

If the Mackie Control is accepted then it should find it automatically according to Apple.

I've tried manually assigning the ports as well. Tried multiple ports incase one was bad, etc. No such luck.

I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the unit. Tried to find if there is a way to restore it to default settings or something, and haven't found anything there either.

Does sound like the unit could be a dud. Checked midi cabling? It needs two way comms to work.. could also be why the firmware update didn't work.

I'll give that a shot in the morning. Thanks for your help!

How'd you go Zach... did you get to the bottom of the problem?

I've got it working and a lexan overlay is on the way!

Still not sure what the problem was, but I reset all midi devices in logic and that fixed it. Didn't know I could do that, nice to know if my midi hardware is acting up in the future.

    Thanks again for your help!
