Understanding Snap Edits to Zero Crossings

Hi, all - I'm new to Logic Pro and am having a rather difficult time figuring out why I'm still getting pops when I have "Snap Edits to Zero Crossings" turned on. According to Apple's documentation, the purpose of the feature is:

I enabled the feature, but my edits are not being snapped to the zero crossings (X-axis), and I'm still getting pops, even if I have it set to snap to the nearest sample. I even zoomed in to confirm that this is happening (brief video here).

I presume that I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

PS: I am editing monophonic audio (just voice), so unaligned waveforms within stereo channels is not the problem.
