Seriously though, let me know how you like them. I'm curious to get some feedback. I am actually quite proud of this series, and happy with how it came out. It was nice to focus on the music for a change and not have it be specifically about the software.

PS: It's all done in Logic, even though it's not specifically "about" Logic ;)
 
Cseye - you da man as far as grinding through the tutorials. You should consider doing your own sometime - you should have good insight on what works and doesn't.

As for Eli, you are the master of grinding them out - I think you get 3 or 4 done to every one of mine. I took a quick look at it - it looks good - congrats!

When and where will you post the Custom MIDI Set up?

As one who uses key switching, I've always been puzzled when seeing screen shots of separate instrument tracks for each articulation. But the mystery was solved when viewing the Set Up chapter of MOE: The combination of the custom MIDI set up and Channel Splitter. It occurred to me that I would subgroup the individual instrument tracks to an aux, then Hide them; recording my MIDI part on the Channel Splitter track so that all notation is on one track in the Arrange window. Yes?

While key switching in Kontakt is very clean (and quick), there's something really cool about the Logical method you demonstrated.:cool:

I'm not in the same league as you and Eli but I'll certainly offer what works for me based on viewing your tutorials.

I did write a brief MIDI guitar tutorial elsewhere on the web using an aka that was Logic based. ;)

Feel free to either post or send me the link - I have a feeling I might have already seen it, but would enjoy checking it out. I too belong to the brotherhood of frustrated MIDI guitarists.

I agree, I think that custom environment patch makes working multi timbrally with different articulations in Logic VERY elegant. I have to (publicly) thank Environment guru Len Sasso. He helped me build that patch. It's not particularly sophisticated as far as what's possible with the Environment. But the value swapping part was a bit too much of a brain teaser for me to figure out on my own. He solved it for me in, like, five minutes!

Anyway, Groove 3 should be making the patch available. If you like, email me privately and I'll send it to you in the morning.

The complexity of the Environment is something I appreciate, especially when someone else more skilled has worked out a solution.:D

For anybody else who hasn't found it, I contacted Groove 3 about the Key Switch Map, who pointed out that it is in the included Extras/Session folder. Great to see all the tutorial projects included!

Hey, thanks for pointing this out. I just assumed that no project files were included.

After reading this I went to my G3 account and noticed that the download link was still available.
