Logic Pro 9 problems retaining pan & volume settings

Hi,
I have one track that keeps resetting pan & volume everytime I press stop to get back to the beginning of the track. Once I press play, the settings I manually set are ignored and other settings take over. ..any ideas? very frustrating :brkwl:
thanks,
rick

Have you checked the list edit mode to see if you have any pan or volume settings that are changing your handmade settings? Sometimes a CC7 or CC10 gets added by either the used or if the part was imported from a General Midi track... I suggest you take a look at that.

The other thing I have seen happening is an external controller was creating data that did the same thing: changed the persons settings each time they restarted the track, only on the track that was selected.

Just for future reference, I don't wish to be pedabtic, but its useful to use the correct terminology. The errant MIDI data is in a region, not on the track. ie if you removed or muted that one region on the trcak, then the vol and pan of the track would behave normally.

It is possible that the problem could have been due to track automation, which is independent of whatever regions there are, and the MIDI events they contain, on that track.

However the culprit, as is so often the case, was the MIDI data contained in the imported MIDI file.

I always clean those up first, ie remove anything you don't want: volume, pan, programme change commands, filters etc.
