So just by entering score symbols or text directives into the score the articulations will change. I don't deal with the Event editor at all. It's very slick!
The Articulations IDs can be recorded in real time only via the Sequencer.
If you have an existing midi region and you try to change the Articulations via any real time Environment method (thought there is one) or Smart Controls you will find out that is hard. Of course there are a few methods to do manual post processing of the Articulation change via the Event List or via the Piano Roll (Logic 10.0.5 update).
So, hold for a while - I'm on a dead line to release the new Scripter Toolkit which can do all that on the fly :).

Will your scripter toolkit allow you to change articulations with text? I.e, entering pizz as text changes the articulation to pizzicato etc.

Yes of course and much more than you can imagine :) !
OK I'll make some Christmas news regarding the upcoming A.G Switcher PRO toolkit:

The A.G Midi Channel Switcher PRO is a new midi processing tool programmed for
the LogicX Midi FX scripter plugin. The A.G Switcher is designed to improve your
music workflow bringing it to a higher level. You can use this midi tool to switch the
incoming midi channel into any channel/patch 1-16 or EXS24 articulation on the fly.
The A.G Switcher PRO is designed to be used with multitimbral Software Instruments
such as Omnisphere, Kontakt, Halion etc, or with multitimbral hardware midi devices
via the Logic External Instrument plugin. A special A.G SW IAC template is available
in the installation pack for the users who want to switch between various Logic Software
Instruments loaded into different channel strips.
The PRO version offers up to eight "Switching Methods via":
Key Switch.
Program Change.
Control Change. Two modes are available here - "One Shot" and "Scale" mode.
Performance Speed. Up to four performance speeds. Each speed can be set in
note durations such as 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 etc.
Random Channel. A new "SMART" feature re-randomizes the midi channel if it
matches the old one.
Pattern Channel. Up to 16 steps are available for custom patch/channel change
assignment. You can round robin the patch change via this method.
Velocity. This switching method offers up to 16 velocity switching zones.
Patch/Channel Name. You can type custom patch name for each channel and
switch this menu by name, monitor the custom names in the Scripter trace window or
draw/record track automation via patch names. This menu can be controlled via the
Logic Smart Controls or midi "Learned" to External Controller.

Key Features

• Eight Switching Methods.
• Smooth channel/patch change. You can\hold down a few notes and switch to another
midi channel via any "Switching Method"without any interruption. After the switching,
the new triggered notes are performed bythe new patch while the old "held" notes still
play the old patch until you release them. The method guarantees no hanging noteevents.
• Non-note events "Pass Thru". All other midi events such as Control Change, Pitch
Bend etc are transformed into the new channel so you can control the new patch.
• 60 Control Parameters. The A.G Switcher PRO user interface is optimized as
much as possible regarding the scripter UI non-dynamic control limitation. Meaning
that, some parameters are "shared", so you can use them according to the current
"Switching Method".
• EXS24 Articulation Switching. This feature allows you to change the EXS patch
articulations on the fly, using the all switching methods offered by the A.G Switcher.
• A.G EXS24 Articulation Presets. The A.G Switcher pack comes with another
standard installer which installs specially prepared user Channel Strip Presets for the
all EXS sample library (multiple articulation) instruments. Each channel strip preset
loads an EXS instrument plus its correspondent MIDI FX A.G Switcher preset.

I have exported a non-official demo video where the A.G PRO is in "Key Switch" mode. I recorded midi data and Articulation switching in real time. Logic records the Keys switches as Patch Name Track Automation (the Key Switching is transformed into Custom Patch Names on the fly).
Later I switch to "Patch/Channel Name" mode which reads the track Automation. You can edit the "Patch/Channel Name" track automation by "Name" later (I show that for a moment in the demo video as well). The KS Notes are playing in this mode which is just a demo !
You can mute them or use Control Change, Program Change, Performance Speed or the other methods to prevent that.
The Toolkit offers much more tools inc Scripter tools or Environment tools which care for the extra scenarios - they are included in the "Templates" folder.
Hope this gives some pre-info...

Happy Holidays!

Ivan

Still waiting! :(
Heh, I decided to develop one more MIDI FX plugin at the last moment cause I realized that it is essential for that toolkit. I finish it so it's time for the videos and show. I'm sorry for the latency buy this additional plugin will be in your use.

Hi,

Here are some news about the Logic Articulation IDs and the 3rd Party Instruments compatibility.
  1. The brand new AG Logic Articulation Maps EDITOR (Mode 4) allows you to create Articulation Maps for 3rd Party Instruments using the Note Event MIDI Channel & Articulation settings which are embedded into the Note Event.
