Logic Pro (X) Crashes

I realize that it will be pretty difficult to diagnose this in a remote setting but maybe something will occur to someone.
Anyway I'm running Logic pro v10.4.0 under macOS v10.12.6. (I also just installed Toontracks Superior Drummer 3 although I can't say for sure if that contributes to the problem.)
The problem is that I get crashes at marker 3 and beyond but in the first 2 I've no problems. Also I can play straight through but if I move up directly to those markers it trips a crash.
I would be more than happy to serve up any specifics that are needed to decipher this. I can think of a way to circle around the problem but that would only be putting a bandaid on the problem. So any insights would be much appreciated.
Although I have used Logic for sometime I don't consider myself all that knowledgable. And I've only just moved into X so I'm [digitally] overwhelmed most of the time.

Is there automation that does something at marker 3?
If you have automation, you may disable it on all channelstrips. If it runs without automation, turn it on channel for channel to isolate the problem.

There is lots of automation there so I'll take a look. What do I do if I find the offending automation? Can I just redo it?-thanks
Also-
Although it disappeared after I booted up fresh I saw a problem with not being able to move to any marker. Is this a known bug?

So I turned off all of it and I still got the crash. So that means, I guess, that it's somewhere else. What else might cause it?

Sorry for the repeat above. I thought my reply had been lost but...

It just occurred to me to ask-might this have something to do with my recent update to 10.4? I wasn't very active on the program after I did the upgrade so I might not have noticed a change in the behavior of the program.

Maybe a matter of key commands? Or a corrupted Logic program.
I am afraid I cannot help here since I don't have Logic 10.4
Someone else may pitch in, please.

Could you post a crash log? That *may* give some pointers as to the cause, especially if 3rd party software is involved.

kind regards

Mark thanks for getting on this. I don't have a current crash log. I'm sorry to ask this but how can I get a list of them? Although I seem to recall in early version it was just matter of repeating the action and -poof- you got a new one generated but that doesn't seem to be the case now.

I finally got a crash log but when I tried to upload the log itself it couldn't be found and when I saved it as both a Pages and txt file the "Upload a File" wouldn't accept those and the file itself is too long to load straight in to the reply so I've no idea how to send this to you now.

OK...as if this wasn't weird enough I just turned off and back on Toontracks: Superior Drummer III-which the crash log said was at fault and since I can't decipher crash logs [at all] I can't determine if it was particular area of the program. Anyway the crashing seems (repeat-seems!) to have stopped. But I would still like to know how I can send you that log (as per the above messages) so you can look it over. I have a feeling that if I were to send it to either Toontracks or Apple they would suggest that I send it to the other as it's the other guy's problem and I would be left there tearing my hair and/or talking to myself! So I really need to have an independent person look it over.
Having not used X for very long I'm leaning towards a bit of trepidation over reports I've heard for years about how X works really well for some and not so well for others. What are your feelings on this or what have you heard about the new version and it's dependability?

That is interesting, perhaps Toon Tracks is in fact the cause of your problem. Are you using the latest version?

But I would still like to know how I can send you that log (as per the above messages) so you can look it over.

Well, if you did see a crash log appear, all you have to do is copy paste it, either directly into a post here, or save it as a text file and attach that here (see the "upload a file" button below the text body when you write a message on the LUG).

I have a feeling that if I were to send it to either Toontracks or Apple they would suggest that I send it to the other as it's the other guy's problem and I would be left there tearing my hair and/or talking to myself!

Send it to both. While they may not reply to you, it may be of interest to them and may result in a fix in a future version of whichever softtware is causing the problem. One thing is for sure: if you keep it to yourself, nobody can do anything.

I'm happy to say, Logic Pro X, in its various releases has been very stable here.

kind regards

I did do that and it wasn't accepted but I'll try again also when I tried to copy the whole report into this field I got a message that it was too long but again I'll try it once more.

I'll do that-thanks
I'll try the upload in a separate message

I'll try it in two parts and see if that does it

As you mentioned, there are indeed references to toontrack superior 3 in the crashed thread. That can mean that the presence of an instance of toontrack is causing problems, all the more so if logic is not crashing without toontrack. Why not get in touch with toontrack, send them the crashlog along with a description of what you were doing?

Just before you sent this last message I did, in fact, send Toontracks the log. They admitted that they had seen some problems with folks who used a certain piece of antivirus software. I wasn't one of them. But anyway they have the log (which, at your suggestion, I also sent to Apple/Logic) so we'll see what happens.
There all kinds of new and different room sounds in it some of which I recently added so I wonder if it's one particular piece of the software that's responsible and not the whole thing.
