Logic Pro 8 New To Logic 8, And Have Some Questions

Logic Ninja

Hi, I´ve used Logic 5 since 2001, but Logic 8 is new to me.
I understand most of the functions, but there are a few things that puzzle me.
I have a few questions, and maybe some of you can help me out?

1. Logic Pro 8; In Logic 5.5 there´s a section where you can put in the exact time, and or amount of bars you want your song to be. Say 5:00 minutes, for example.
I can´t find that function in Logic 8, and it just gives me the maximum length.
Is there a similar song section like in the old Logic 5.5?
Because it seems using that function would save a lot of processor power.

2. Wave Burner; Ok, I usually use WaveLab for mastering, and burning Red Book audio CD´s. Wave Lab automatically burns the CD 1 to 1 in Audio.
However, Wave Burner always burns it to WAV.
Is there a way to change this, so Wave Burner will burn a 1 to 1 CD in Audio?

3. Logic 8 and Stylus RMX; Using Stylus RMX with the old Logic 5.5, I could make a loop with Stylus RMX, bounce it, and import it again.
That doesn´t seem to work with Logic 8. The file bounces, but it´s empty.
So what am I doing wrong? What do I have to do differently using Logic 8 to make this work?

Anyway, I´m new here, but this looks like a great place.
For those of you that reply, Thank You in advance.

In the Transport, you can set the number of BARS that the song ends at.

This doesn't save any processing power, but it does ensure that the Freeze Tracks feature doesn't bother scanning way past the end of the song if you don't hit Command . [period] after the end of the freezable data. (This will still result in the proper length of Freeze File; that extra whack of silence at the end will be automatically truncated).

What's a 1 to 1 CD? WaveBurner burns standard RedBook CDs. And so does WaveLab.

Logic's bounce to disk feature is "what you hear is what you get". So solo that which you want to bounce. You first define (using the Cycle zone) the in and out points of the bounce, then hit the BNCE button on whatever physical output channelstrip that RMX is routed to, and the rest is obvious. I always use RealTime (instead of Offline) unless I was bouncing some immensely long passage that was going to be later checked for errors thoroughly anyway.

There is also the File > Export feature which can export an audio or software instrument track as an audio file.

Thanks.
You´ve pretty much answered my questions.
I really appreciate you taking the time.
What I was referring to by 1 to 1, is the speed in which the WAV files are burned to Audio CD . It usually takes 1/2 hour to burn a Red Book CD Master Audio CD in Wavelab, and Wavelab automatically burns it as an Audio CD.
A friend of mine, who´s also new to Logic 8, told me Wave Burner burns the CD in WAV, and he can´t figure out how to get it to burn an Audio CD. Actually all of these questions where from my friend, but his English isn´t good enough to post here, so I´m asking for him. :)

I´m sure there must be, but he hasn´t figured it out yet.
Once again, thank you for your time.

Hi LN,

I noticed that this is just your second post. I just thought I'd let you know there's fellow out there named David Earl, who uses "Logic Ninja" as his web name and he has a pretty high profile among logic users, primarily because of all the u-tube Logic tutorials he has produced.

Hey, That´s pretty funny. I had no idea. I just came to this forum for a friend of mine that had some questions about Logic 8. Actually, I told my friend that you could choose the length of the song using the transport bar, but he couldn´t figure it out. I don´t use Stylus much, because I´m a drummer/multi-instrumentalist, and program my own beats, so I didn´t know the answer to that question. And I´ve always used WavLab for editing, mastering, and burning Red Book CD masters, so I don´t know much about Wave Burner either. I´ve been using Logic for years, and know Logic 5.5 quite well, but Logic 8 is new to me.
As for the name Logic Ninja;
I´ve been doing Wing Chung Kung Fu, Ninjitsu, Shotokan Karate, Arnis (stick fighting) and all the weapon forms for years. My nickname is "NINJA", so I thought Logic Ninja would be a cool name for me here, and it wasn´t taken, so I took it. :)
After reading your post, I checked out sfLogic Ninja-David Earl. He´s all over Google, (just like me, under my real name) and his You Tube vids have lots of views. :) He definitely knows his stuff. I checked out his Pyrimind community as well. I was impressed, and that doesn´t happen very often. :)
Thanks for turning me on to this guy.

WaveBurner's sole purpose is to master and then burn audio CDs (CD-DA). I don't know how to NOT burn an audio CD with it.

Are you managing to somehow burn a CD-ROM with it?

Like I said, I´m new to Logic 8 and Wave Burner, and I haven´t even tried to burn a CD with it. I always master, and burn my tracks in Wavelab.
My friend was the one asking these questions, and he said that Wave Burner always burned a Data CD, and Not Audio. :)
I´ll have to try it for myself.

Anyway, thanks again.
