Hello all...
I've tried to ask GS about this without much success, so here goes...
1/ If I create an AAF in Pro Tools (12.8.1) with a start time of say, 09:59:30:00, when I import it in Logic (10.3.2), the start time is never taken into account. Whether it's imported into an existing project or directly drag-and-dropped onto Logic doesn't matter, the orginal start time seems to be totally bypassed or something. Is that a limitation in Logic's way of dealing with AAFs or am I doing something wrong?
2/ is there way to prevent Logic from converting to interleaved? Let me explain: when I import AAFs all dual mono files are "converted" to interleaved stereo, which sounds fine, except all mono tracks become stereo tracks with duplicates everywhere. Say I have 2 mono tracks in a PT session, piano L and piano R (these are arbitrary track names, NOT file names), which I export to AAF to be imported into Logic. When I import them, Logic automatically and invariably converts *each* file to interleaved, which means piano L becomes a stereo track made of piano.L and piano.R (this time file name), and piano R becomes a stereo track made of piano.L and piano.R, resulting in 2 identical stereo tracks, where it should have been either 1 stereo track or 2 mono tracks. I'm adding screenshots for clarification...
Here are my 2 tracks in Pro Tools:
..And here's what I end up with in Logic, 4 stereo tracks instead of 2:
...I've noticed that it only happens with AAFs, not OMFs. With OMFs, everything opens as mono tracks so it's not an issue. Having said that is there a way around this? ....I'm on a Pro Tools plan expiring soon and I'm considering not renewing it and going Logic full time, but I can't with this issue... Tx!
