2010 3.2 quad mac pro or 2008 3.2 octo?

anyone have advice on which system may be better suited for Logic 9?

both can be had for similar prices right now. Would I miss the 4 additional physical cores of the Harpertown if I went with the newer Nehalem (which presents 4 physical and 4 virtual via hyperthreading I guess)....

WOuld the benefits of the newer architecture of the Nehalem outweigh only having 4 physical cores instead of 8?

I use heavy spectrasonics, Kontakt, Waves plugs....Vienna Ens Pro runs on a second Windows 7 PC.

Virtual cores are not of any use in Logic, so what You are comparing is 4 vs. 8 cores.

Go for 8.
