Logic Pro 9 Adding multiple loops. Cutting and pasting whole sections

Glad to finally find this place. I hope to be learning a lot to help me move through the technical end, to push more music out better and faster! Thank you!

Some rookie questions. I have been hacking through Logic 9 for a few years and still don't know how to do this.

Loops- i.e. drum loops/ How can I copy a single loop I have on a track without having to drag 120 of them? Is there a way to click and type in the number of measures you want the loop to last? I know copy and paste, but its just as easy to click and drag over and over again. It seems there should be a way to add a set number of measures. Would make my life a lot easier!

Cutting out whole sections. Adding whole sections. Can you point me to a tutorial that explains this. For example. I lay out a song. Now I find out the verse is too long/sort, or I need to add a bridge or chorus in a certain section. I need to put the pointer where I want it to go then highlight the section and delete it. I guess I would then have to punch in, but
i don't know how. Also, just copying a section and then placing it in a new section of the song.

Do you mean that you have to loop 120 tracks or that you have a region to loop over 120 times?
Have you considered the following method?

To loop a region with the Loop parameter
1-Select the region in the Arrange area.

2-Select (turn on) the Loop option in the Region Parameter box of the Inspector (or use the "Loop Regions/Folders on/off" key command, default assignment: L).

The region is looped until it encounters another region on the same track (or the project or folder ends).

Making use of the Marquee tool (and/or stripe) to select across tracks should help you achieve your goal.

Thank you for the information. Yes, I need to loop drums out 120 or whatever measures. I've been doing it the hard way for too long! : ) What a hack I am...and my songs aren't half bad. What a daunting task, at times, to learn so much. A weekend worth of trial and errors, and hopefully a world of good vibes! Learning the cut tool, and moving chunks of phrases, will be a nice tool to use.

I know it looks a lot to learn but honestly, going through trial and error in Logic is definitely not the way to go. That software is so deep that you will loose a lot of time just to figure out the surface, and most of the time come up with false knowledge about its features, which will mislead your efforts to dead ends.
You owe yourself to learn at least the basics, either from the published documentation or better yet from notoriously good guides such as Eli's Groove3 videos which will save you lots of time and effort. Anyway, the effort invested into learning will payback manyfold, you can trust me on that!

Excellant! I did not know about the GRoove3 videos. I just watched a few on Youtube and dove right in, hoping for the best. I will absolutely be checking those out. Thanks again for

Hi RCecil,
another great resource I used to learn logic basics was the book 'Logic Pro 9 and Logic Express 9' by David Nahmani. It's a fun way to learn the basics and doesn't take too long to get through. Comes with a DVD that contains all the files necessary to perform the lessons and is Apple certified.
Perhaps you have already come across it.
