Logic Pro 9 Adding to a Midi layyer, but being able to see the previous part?

Im pretty sure there must be a setting for this.

I record a part on a midi layer... fix quantise whatever in the piano roll, THEN I want to add some bits, maybe a little higher harmony part.

immediatly I hit R, the notes from the first part dissapear from the piano oll.. and must ply by ear alone... not easy when my music is pretty abstract and ambient. I NED TOO SEE the previous part as I play.. at least to get occasional visual cues.

So after Im done, I KNOW that I can highlight both parts, and select MERGE. but is there a way of my new notes just "going into" the first part? (Psst just like in Reason??)

Try disabling the link icon in the score window. By doing that, the display of the selected region will remain on screen even after you start recording a new one.
