advice needed

As a novice to producing i'm thinking of getting an Imac with 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4GB memory... can anyone tell me if this is fast enough to run Logic Studio or do i need to go for 2.93GHz? I intend to limit hardware and run all samples and synths on the iMac.
 
Faster machines are always better overall but the Mac you have in mind is quite fine and definitely suitable for Logic.

The built-in interfaces are mediocre to put it mildly (some call them crappy). You can of course work well with the internal interface but for studio quality you need an external audio interface.
