Aiff to FLAC

Hi,

Prob going to get grief for this but i couldnt find what I wanted to know in a search so here goes:

I have record a song in 24/192 and have bounced it to aiff 24/192 but my friend wants FLAC but with every app Ive used it makes the file tiny compared with the AIFF file - Is this correct?

Yes flac is small. There is an app called XLD that I use for this, it is free and works perfectly for these kinds of things.

Yeah I used that but thot that going from the main file at 370mb to 170mb wasn't right but take it, it is. I thought flac was as good as aiff? So is aiff the best quality? Well that and wav?

Flac is a lossless file format, that decreases file size, but keeps 100% of the quality.

Thanks for your help George - you kinda wonder why logic doesn't do flac then seeing as it compresses file size? Do you think they will update it to have flac as an option?

Doubt it, since Mac OS X doesn't, Logic won't.

I think Apple probably would rather promote ALAC since it's basically the same thing.

have you tried iDealshare VideoGo? it can fast and batch convert aiff to flac, wav, mp3, ogg, wma, ac3, ape and etc

it has both windows version and mac version

besides converting aiff, it also hellps to convert wav, wma, flac, ape, dts, ogg, m4a and etc
