Logic Pro 9 AMT8/Unitor 8 Control Panel and OS 10.8.2

Having had a relatively easy upgrade from 10.6 to 10.8 I have finally found my nemesis :-(

Although I can find a driver for Unitor 8, I can't seem to connect it, and there isn't a control panel.

Any suggestion?

Hey George,

I'm still on OS 10.6.8. Does this mean that I will lose my MT4 functionality when I move up to 10.7 or greater? I think 10.7 is when they dropped PPC support? It didn't occur to me that I would "lose" my MT4 with the current OS versions. If that is the case, it's very unfortunate.

George; MMM42; thanks, the problem was elsewhere...
After trying everything, including using the Fireface800 MIDI, and still getting no connection, I dived into the Environment and found that the 'Physical Input' was no longer connected to the sequencer!

This was a template that I've used many times.

<shrug>

sorry for wasting your times, chaps

Hello folks, I've just tried to install the Unitor 8-64 preferences Panel under OS X.8.4 that mmm42 linked to and it seems to be broken :-(

I've notified the developer.

Thought you might all like to know. Dare I ask if any Unitor users has it working under Mountain Lion?

The problem that had me go looking for it is that Logic seems to not be able to send MIDI clock messages and I was wondering if that was because I had them filtered at the interface level. Tried with both Logic 9 and X.

Is there any way to rest the interface from the front panel buttons?

Kind regards

Hi George and thanks for the reply.

I actually mean the Unitor Preferences Pane made by Kurt Arlund here.
http://www.potm.org/software/Unitor/index.html

This the same link quoted by mmm42 earlier in this thread. It is indeed 64 bit compatible except I tried to install and it crashed in Mountain Lion. It had only been tested up to Lion.

After emailing Kurt the developer he replied very quickly with another download which does indeed not crash in Mountain Lion. But it's not clear from my initial tests whether it actually works either. I'll keep you updated.

All I know is I still can't get my Unitor to send out MIDI clock messages to sync my Prophet 08. Current workaround is the Prophet is connected to another MIDI interface that does send clock no worries.

Hi Paul,

I have that control panel working in OS 10.8.5 (just released) and it does talk to my Unitors.

Have you tried clicking on the Computer Tab? The filters are there and you might be able to switch MTC on and off. (I don't want to experiment here as everything works now and if it ain't broke, don't change it.)

I'd guess the only other way to modify settings is if you have kept a "legacy" Mac that still runs OS9 or earlier versions of OSX (which is always a good idea), then you could connect the Unitor, change settings, then connect back to your working system.

Thanks for your reply Colin,

Sorry I'm slow responding. Anyway, Kurt Arnlund the developer confirmed that the filters section in his control panel are not working.

He then supplied me a separate little app that just managed Unitor filtering via generating Unitor sysex files.

The good news is that this method does indeed work with switching Unitor in/ out filtering.

The bad news is that in spite of this fact my Unitor still can't send MIDI clock messages from Logic 9 or X or any other app. I have confirmed that this is a Unitor issue as Logic happily sends MIDI clock to other MIDI interfaces here.

In the Unitor manual they offer a way to initialise the Unitor's memory but it requires Unitor8 Control which I can't run. Does anyone know a way to initialise from the front panel?

Kind regards

I just want to make sure everyone has access to the filter app that is mentioned here.

Download here: U8Filters.zip

This app creates filter sysex files for Unitor 8 and AMT8. You then use Snoize Sysex Librarian to send the sysex files to port 1 of the device.
