Logic Pro 9 Another "feature"?

hsdrecording

Logician
So i have been doing more and more tracking in Logic and have found a few annoying things that may just be Logic things, or may be me screwing something up.

So first..........

When i bounce in real time, it almost always bnces the track into the trash, and only a portion of it actually bounces. Even though, it plays thru the whole song and never lets on there is a problem. Bouncing offline is fine, works everytime, I just prefer the realtime bounce. Anyone else with this problem?

Second....

I cant edit while recording. In PT I have always been able to cut and paste hooks and such while a verse is recording. It seems if I even have a track rec enabled, copying and pasting gets all screwed up. Its usually way out of time and pastes different files than I actually copied. Of course the easy fix, just dont do any edits while a track is record enabled. Just wondering if eveyone has that problem, or if its just me.

Thanks again guys for the help.

oh yeah, the entire song bounces with no problem from beginning to end, but when its all done there is only a portion of it bnced and its in the trash.

So, it looks like you have plenty of computing power. I assume you use a separate drive to record your tracks. And you have set the record path to the record drive, not the system/Logic drive. I have never experienced the situation you are having, but have had the bounce start in the middle because I did not set the start and end points. My son uses Logic 8, too, and he also has a Protools Mix system. He has never had any problems with bounces, so my presumption is that something is amiss with your setup.

The bounced audio file is literally in the Trash?
The default for bounces is usually to your projects Bounces folder located wherever your project is...
Sorry, I'm just trying to understand that your single bounce results in "one file in the trash?"
What have you set for your Bounce location?
What happens if you bounce directly to the Desktop?

Are you using plug-ins? What if you streamline this bounce as a test, de-activating plug-ins to see if there is something corrupt with this song's path?
Does the same thing happen if you disable the plug-ins?

What happens if you play the Bounce in iTunes? Does it sound the same way?

Yeah, it bounces directly into the trash can, and no matter where i tell it to bnce to, with and without plug-ins. and if i play it in itunes, it sounds the same, only its just a small random chunk of it. and i have triple checked that the start and stop is correct. it even says at the bottom the length and size of file, so i know thats right. im thinking i may have a system problem. i have a bunch of little bugs like this and cant imagine that so many people would still use logic if they were logic bugs. When recording audio the redraw is all jacked up and it acts like its recording to other tracks (though its not). just a bunch of weird stuff like that. you think buffer size could be affecting this at all? maybe a bad hard drive? its frustrating.

I cannot judge what specifically is wrong with your system, (anyone else out there familiar with this problem?) but I would say that you probably need to re-install Logic from scratch and if that does not fix the problem, a re-install of the OS might be in order.
One last question, Is this problem happening in different Logic projects as well? If so, then Re-Install asap. I would think there's something corrupt within your system.
And no, Logic 9 has been very stable for me (knocking on wood loudly,) and I've not heard of this problem on this fora or any others...
Good Luck!

What is the permissions setting on the session folder / drive where this is happening. It sounds to me like something might be going on with permissions, and Logics reaction to not being able to write the file where it was told to is to place it in the trash... That's my first guess.
