Apogee Ensemble - Firewire Daisy-chain question

Hi group:

I have a new Mac laptop (MBP 17"), which has only a single Firewire 800 port. My prior setup at home included 2 Firewire external drives for backup and certain files - in that setup had them on one port, with the Ensemble on the other port. What is the recommended method when sharing a port with the Ensemble and external HDs? Should I daisy chain with the Ensemble first, daisy chain with it last, or get a Firewire hub/repeater?

Incidentally, with a 17" MBP, you could consider using it's Express Slot to expand your connectivity - either a second FW bus, or S-ATA through the appropriate adapter cards.
