Logic Pro 9 apply envelope to mix of effect

new to this stuff...

i want to fade an effect, in/out at different syllables on a voice track.

searched some forums, but nada, so any help with the right terminology for this kinda thing would be appreciated too.

Why not put the effect on an aux channel strip, aux send to it from the audio channel strip the voice is being played through, and either adjust the send level, or the aux channel strip fader level, to create the fade effect you are looking for? Both aux send and fader can be automated.
