Logic Pro 8 arpediated conversion

Hi,

I have FM8 which has a pretty good arpediator. If I use this to record a midi track the notes show up in the piano roll view exactly as I played them and not as they are arpediated. Is there any way I can convert these so they will show the arpediation and not just notes played?

Thanks

I don't know about the FM 8 arpeggiator, but with Logic's own arpeggiator it will work if you cable the arpeggiator between the physical input object and the sequencer input object on the clicks and ports layer.

Hi Eli and thnaks for the reply.

Yes, I know you can do it with Logic's arpeggiator, but the FM8 arpeggiator is much more flexible and programable--the same is also true of the Zebra 2 arpeggiator--so I was hoping to be able to use it. Unfortunately I don't think there's any way to cable the FM8 or Zebra2 arppediators in the enviroment window because they're so integrated into their respective plug ins. What is wild is using the arppediator on my external synth and then having that arppediation in turn arppediated by Logic's arppediator. Its a bit difficult to control the result though.

Hi Greg,

I'm not sure if this will work or not, but can you try cabling the actual FM8 software instrument between the physical input and sequencer input? It should work. You may then need to record on a "no output" track - I'm not certain.

sorry.....

Here's the bad news:
This question has been asked often on the NI forums.
The answer:
The arpeggiator doesn't send MIDI to the outside world.

You could of course bounce to audio, but there's no way to get FM8's arpeggio data into Logic.
