Logic Pro 9 Auto-Input Monitoring Not Working

This is probably a complete USER ERROR, but I've switched to Logic 9 from Pro Tools and I'm having trouble setting up a Pre-Roll. I set it up in the Recording Settings, but I'm not getting any audio on the track I'm recording to before it starts recording at my locate point. I don't understand at all. It's very cut and dry in PT so I get the concept, but still no audio.

it most likely is in fact recording that pre roll.. grab the left edge of the file and pull it back to the left.

to reveal the audio i mean ie trim.. not move the file..

Thanks for you reply. I'll give that a try. I've been experimenting with the auto punch turned on and will get sound every now and then, but not consistently when I hit record. It seems like I have to put the playhead a bar or two before the actual punch part to get the audio from the previous take to sound. I'll keep messing with it. Thanks again!
