Logic Pro Automation not latency compensated

I remember having this problem with early versions of Logic, but it seems to have returned. in recent versions. I will write some automation on an audio track and it does not match up with the audio playback. So I'll automate the volume of a plugin to match exactly with the change in section on a song, but when I play it back, the volume goes up a beat before the change. Can anyone think what I might be doing wrong here? Delay compensation is set to All and software monitoring is Off. This is not on an Aux (which I know have PDC issues in Logic) it's on an actual audio track.
