Logic Pro automation popup window and automation nodes

Hi, i have two questions that i think are basic but i havent been able to find the answers to them. Could anybody help?

1. I keep getting this popup window after i have hit A to enter automation mode then right clicked- it won't go away easily and i dont want to see it because it makes it so i cant click anything else. When i try single or double/right clicking anywhere else it just opens up the popup on the screen where i clicked. It sometimes goes away after clicking like 20 times. I've attached screenshot at bottom. Is this a bug or something that i'm missing/misunderstanding? How can i fix it/make it go away for good but be able to right click?

2. Whats the hotkey to add automation points/nodes? I need to be in automation mode to do this, right? In garageband i just held command and clicked and i could add points on timeline to adjust volume or other parameters, and thats what i want to do in logic.

Issue #1 is occuring because you're right-clicking on the region. If you're using a track pad, clicking with two fingers is like right-clicking. A single click will make the automation parameter box go away. Use single clicks unless you want to access the parameter box.

Take a look at the Mix menu for various automation options.
Single-clicking on an automation line creates a node. Double-clicking on the node removes it.
