Logic Pro 9 Bounce in place query

Hi All, has anyone figured out how to bounce in place (regions) onto the selected track rather than a new track? This always seems greyed out. I know the track mode will do it but I sometimes want to work region by region, particularly when dealing with varying tempos and finicky plugins (like melodyne) and end up with loads of unnecessary tracks at the end. Has anyone ever seen the "selected tack" not greyed out and if so under what circumstances?

That seems to be the case here as well.

Selecting a destination track, then a source region does not make active the Selected Track option.

Stranger still is that sometimes I can select a software instrument region and the Selected Track option is available, but not always.

Never seems to be available with audio.

Not sure if this is normal or something else.

Same here definitely an audio track. It's a real pain when I want to spot correct wandering pitches on tempo varying tracks with melodyne. The work arounds involve either faffing about with multiple tracks (I use a lot of automation that I still want to edit, but I need to flatten corrected bits because of melodyne's quirks) or playing through the whole track for each instance of melodyne so it doesn't screw up over tempo changes. It's not a deal breaker but it adds to the workload. It could be something to do with melodyne, but it's the only plugin that does what it does!

I just did a quick test here and a MIDI loop was successfully BIP-ed to a preselected audio track.

If you want to troubleshoot this let's start with version of Logic and OS.....

Ok I think I've sussed it, user error.. I've misunderstood logic's idea of "bounce in place" (redface) I wanted logic to actually bounce in place ie replace the selected region with the melodyned version. I'll re-jig my workflow with a parallel "unmelodyned" final track and move things over to a melodyne track to fix them and move them back by bouncing in place!

The project worked on yesterday was originally created in Logic 8. As mentioned previously, selecting a destination audio track, then selecting a region for BIP did not give me the "Selected Track" option.

Today, with a different project, all seemed to proceed normally except that the BIP file whether the source was an audio or SI region resulted in a flat line audio region. Weird.

In another recently started project, BIP worked as expected.

I have no hesitation in fessing up to operator error. 😀 But in this case it looks like corrupt projects.

Following my own advice, I opened a new Empty template, then used the Project Import function to import a corrupt project. BIP worked as expected in the new project.
