I have a mono file I want to bounce while running it through an outboard compressor. When I do so I end up with a stereo file. I have tried splitting the Stereo Output into Output 1 & 2, but when I bounce through Output 1 I get a hard-panned-left file and the opposite through Output 2.
Bouncing in place yields a mono file, but using that method means I cannot use the outboard compressor.
The weird thing is that when I bounce through the Stereo Output and resulting file, though the waveform shows left & right, behaves like a mono file when it comes to panning.
So can anyone explain how to go from a mono channel strip and end up with a mono bounced file?
