Logic Pro 8 Can someone explain Logic Node?

I'm trying to use a macmini to take some of the load off my poor macbook pro by running Logic Node on the mini.

Sets up fine, I get enabled/active nodes on all applicable (according to manual) tracks, mini takes some load, node bar shows some activity - yeah!
But alas...
It doesn't seem to actually work.
For instance Space Designer (one of the things specifically mentioned in the manual as taken care of by the nodes) seems simply to be disabled (effect goes away) - I didn't need all the hazzle of connecting up an extra computer to lessen load that way!

Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

I've seen mentioned in other threads that you may need to have the exact same OS running on both machines, I don't (10.6.3 and 10.4.11) - But that seems to be in the context of getting the Node set up in the first place, which I seem to have managed anyway.

Is the Space Designer set up as an insert on the track that you are offloading to the node computer? Or is it set up as a send? It should work if it is used as an insert on the track; but not if it is on an aux at the send destination.

Eli's comment is spot on, and points out one of the frustrating things about "noding". If you tend to set up Space Designer on an aux to share with multiple channel strips via sends, you've done as much as you can to reduce CPU load. If you use separate reverbs for each track, then it will help out.

Also, I don't think it's an OS disparity, but the node software needs to be of the same version as Logic.

Unfortunately, I had already considered this. So, I'm only looking at cases that where Space Designer is applied as an insert directly on the track.

Of course, the node thing (if/when working) would be worlds better if you could offload aux. As it is, I'm not sure where the breaking point is between using the same reverb on two or more track via sends or as inserts on the tracks with node.

On some songs, I've been experimenting with running processor heavy third-party plugins on the mini in Ableton Live LE with a midi setup. This seems to working like a dream, but I have some songs where the heavy stuff (like Space Designer) are mostly Logic and for those that work-around is a no go.
