Logic Pro Can you make your own colour palette in Logic?

I used to find it helpful to be able to colour regions black in Logic 9. Black's disappeared in X. Is there anyway of making your own palette of colours?

There is if you feel brave, it involves editing the code in a file in package contents. Disclaimer: not my fault if this breaks anything, so back up first. However I don't know how to get black, and only know how to change them via trial and error.

So maybe someone can give a better answer. (ideally that you can still do this in Logic without the hack)

  • Right click to view package contents.Follow this path:
  • /Contents/Frameworks/MAResources.framework/Versions/A/Resources/MAResourcesMapping.plist
  • open that file with a text editor and search for the regions section
  • Change the integer number for one of the keys (these are 1 - 24 vertical columns of the colour palette)
However for black I imagine it may mean editing the numbers in the <string>

Best of luck!

Values for integer can be 1 - 360 ranging from reddish through orange yellow green blue to purplish. These are the top row as mentioned, the lower rows are just darker versions. However they seem to only be colours, no black, white or grey. 🙁

One more thing, as this is in package contents if will be overwritten when you update Logic so if you do it se s custom palette then save a copy of the text file to reapply
