Logic Pro Cannot figure out how to turn automation on

Is there a master automation channel somewhere? I have automation on the Bright Saw Brass and Classic Rock Organ tracks as well as region automation on the Classic Rock Organ, plus automation on the Output track and non of it is working. I want a fade out and those two tracks are especially annoying because they are sustained.
PS There are also some bars visible in the Classic Rock Organ region measure 156 corresponding to where the Region automation is, which disappears when I switch to Track automation. Is this Logic"s way of telling that there is automation in the Region when viewing in Track mode? Will it always do that for any automation?

You have disabled the automation in the mixer channel(s).
The menu button "Read" above the pan knob(s) is grey. Should be green.

This is region automation. Looks like an expression pedal used while recording.

Good eye. I'm glad it was something simple. Now I'll check all the other tracks, just to make sure.
