Logic Pro can't change piano roll window.

From last night I was having a very hard time with this. I would choose a track and double click a region but it would not show up. If I chose score, it would change. If I tried to open the piano roll window, it would open but not display anything. I am getting the same thing today after a night's rest and running disk Utilities on all disks. In the main window piano roll, I can switch between piano roll and score, but the actual name of the region changes as does the track content!

Is it possible that the link button in the piano roll is off and on in the score editor?
If so, turn it on in the piano roll.
