Logic Pro 9 Can't see AU plugins

I'm new to the forum, and relatively new to Logic9. I've loaded a couple plugins.....I can see them in GB but not in Logic. I've tried a couple things such as, went to Audio Units Manager to see if it loaded properly....it's there and says 'successfully validated'. i thought maybe i'm running in 64bit, and plugin is 32, but i'm not seeing the 64bit mode option in the Get Info area, so i'm thinking i'm running in 32. (iMac 2.66 core duo & MBP 2.4 Core duo) So i need some help!
The 2 plugins i'm dealing with now are Arturia Moog Modular and Nusofting ComboSister. again, i can use them with no problem in GarageBand, they just showed up in the library.
thanks

thanks, i definitely have an instrument channel strip going....search the library, no combosister or moog options (except the logic moog lead patch)

I got it. looking forward to learning much more about Logic from this group.

this is my inexperience - in a channel strip there are 2 buttons for the instrument, one on top (gray) and one close to the slider (blue) where you access the edit options of the instrument. holding down on the upper one gives you a list of logic instruments.....holding down on the lower one has the option 'AU Instruments'....and there are my plugins!

Sounds like you are on your way!
There are lots of good books & tutorials out there for Logic 9.
Jay Asher (here on this forum,) wrote a good one about a year ago(?)

A good place to start for you might be loading some of the Logic Templates (when starting a new project,) -There, you can get a feel for basic layouts for Instrument strips and/or audio channel strips and where you would load plug-ins.
I can't recommend Logic's own virtual-instruments strongly enough.
They are really good for most applications.

Good Luck!

Thanks Charlie, that's good advice. i'll check that out. Unfortunately i don't have a lot of time to just play around with Logic and explore, i'm using it as a performance instrument for a new wave 80's band.....i had to hit the ground running. But it's working very well in this application and the logic instruments are great as you mentioned. I'm building a nice custom patch bank in Mainstage and using Logic for all the nice synth sequences that are prevalent in these 80's tunes....it's perfect for this and has replaced 3 keyboards.....and a lot of button pushing between songs! There's nothing i can't do with the MBP and my Yam S90ES. But i want to start taking advantage of the plugins now that i got my feet wet. This combo organ plugin that i'm playing around with, for instance, is awesome.....and perfect for this 80's project. i had it going with the rotor amp modeling last night and it was just sick.
thanks again

Thanks for explaining what you did to get up and running with your AU software instruments. I'm just starting out with logic and was really confused. Holding down the button under the I/O label enabled me to select and use my instance of FM8.

Hey there,
Since you're new at Logic, there are a bunch of books, internet tutorial vids on a bunch of free ones on YouTube by LogicNinja.
I recommend any of those resources when trying to get the hang of Logic.
Best of luck to you & happy 2012!:hippy:
