Logic Pro 9 Controlled fade across a Region

(Still learning - wildly...) is it possible automatically to have Logic (Pro 9) make a controlled linear fade (in or out) across a track's Region?

IOW, I know the start- and end-points of a period of time - (say) a minute, or 24 bars.

How do I have Logic increase the volume of a loop or MIDI sustained note or sound automatically over those bars?

take a look at:
a- the inspector box in the top left corner . when you click on an audio region youll see you have various fade options

b- track automation:view>track automation. there you can draw volume curves till your hearts content.
