Logic Pro 9 copy-pasting an entire section.

I thought this method worked a few times but maybe I was mistaken.

In an orchestral score I choose "copy midi events" having set a locator. Then I set a destination after choosing all the tracks. In fact, recently it pastes one note or pastes the whole mess on a single track measures later where it doesn't belong.

The only thing that seems to work is choose all tracks, copy-merge or some such thing, choose all notes with the mouse and option click to where it's wanted. In no case does it paste the expression or any other controllers but nothing I've ever used does and I also usually modify the repeats in one way or another.

Am I missing something?

What you want to do is certainly possible. If this is not a merging of information but an insert, use the arrange area menu item cut/insert time found in both the region and edit menus. Using these will move things such as repeats, double bars etc. downstream where you'd want them. If it's at the end of the piece, copy/paste regions and use No Overlap in your drag mode.

You may have to join MIDI regions again - and this does take a minute with a lot of tracks, but everything is done.

If you just want to move note information all the functions should work correctly in the score editor - at least they did in 9.1.3 as I tested them all then. I find it easiest to select desired tracks and notes, copy, then Option click play head to paste location and paste.
