Logic Pro 9 Does "Capture Recording" work for audio?

Every tutorial I've seen on the Capture Recording feature (capturing the last take as a recording while playing to a track even though the record mode wasn't activated, by evoking the set key command for the Capture Recording function.) has been a MIDI tutorial. Does this function work for audio tracks as well?

I haven't been able to get it to work at all. I've seen on this forum where many people are reporting bugs on this feature. Sure would be awesome if it worked!

Nope. MIDI only feature.

Actually..... you can do this kind of thing....

Enable the audio setting "Punch on the fly". And record enable the track you are monitoring your audio through.

Now, as long as you hit record before you hit stop, you can grab the audio that was being recorded in the background... just select the audio that is there, and drag the left side of the audio region to the beginning of where you started playback at. Done, your audio will be there...

Yea, I remember when I saw that thinking: Protools seems a little bit less interesting now that Logic can do this too.

Too bad they don't really promote this kind of stuff. That, and using a buss as a record source, are 2 real "field levelers" in my opinion.

As this sort of feature is there since ages, they should finally make it "official".
I'm afraid they will never do, though - I mean, "capture last take" for MIDI is seriously broken since quite some versions when using it in cycle mode and nobody seems to care about even remotely. Quite a bummer.

Don't tell them! People should be re-educated to take music more seriously, see it as a creative and emotional process instead of an industrial production process. So don't give them a function that allows sloppy playing and taking the best accidential result, meaning the best of the worst, like a political election 🙄

Well, Sascha, of course you know that I didn't mean this seriously. Or did I? Don't know myself. Maybe I just go more and more crazy.

Always appreciated this feature. Didn't punch in early enough? No problem.
You can just drag back the audio region.
