Logic Pro does it matter which midi channel an event is on?

Does it matter what midi channel an event (from event list) is on? I have a 3rd party instrument loaded on a track and I entered some notes and some automation, each on a different midi channel yet the instrument still plays all the notes etc. So does it matter what midi channel you use for a given event?

If the Instrument is multitimbral, then yes. If it isn't then no.

No general rule. Accepted channels, type of events and their range are programmed in the instrument. Most instruments work in "Omni" mode by default and don't care about channels. Some can be set to one ore more dedicated channels and some expect certain channels to work properly.

So does it matter what midi channel you use for a given event?

It also may matter if you are using a polyphonic score - MIDI channel notes are used in that case to define which voice of the polyphony the notes appear on.
