edit left and right channels separately in sample editor

I desperately need the ability to edit left or right (or individual surround) channels separately in the sample editor. It sucks having to fire up a separate editor just to move one side of the gain on a piece of a region in the sample edit window. This is another Logic sore thumb for me. Just let me select a segment of one channel like I can in other two-track editors and apply the edit.
