Logic Pro Editing a midi loop without affecting other instances

Hello all,

I have a midi drum track. I use loops in it a good bit and pull them to other bars and also have them elsewhere in the song.

Let's say this loop is used in bar4 and pulled to continue to bar 8. It's also in bar 16 and 20-24.

I would like to edit this loop in bar 4 only. When I do though it affects all the other bars? Is there a way for that not to happen?

I also tried moving it to be just in bar 4 and thought I'd copy it to bar 5 and spread that through to 8 and just edit the instance in bar 4. But I noticed that when I changed it with the loop drag thing click and hold it also moved it elsewhere in the song! Yikes What a mess that can cause.

Suggestions on making some changes to a midi loop without wrecking the song?

LPX

Thx,
Dave

You need to use the convert loops to regions in order to be able to edit the regions independently. It's under the Edit menu in the tracks Area. See the screen shot.

Eli's suggestion should work. Your step below should have also worked.

I also tried moving it to be just in bar 4 and thought I'd copy it to bar 5 and spread that through to 8 and just edit the instance in bar 4. But I noticed that when I changed it with the loop drag thing click and hold it also moved it elsewhere in the song!

This makes no sense to me unless the loops are aliases or you had all loops selected upon your edit.
