Logic Pro Environment click modification

I used to be able to click on Klopfgeist in the Environment's Mixer Layer on the Click track in order to load a different plugin and thus change the click sound (for instance, I'd load a Kontakt instrument of my own click). For some reason, now, nothing happens when I click on Klopfgeist to bring up that menu. If I double click, the plug-in itself opens like usual, but single clicking does nothing.

Any ideas? Am I missing something?

I tried it in Logic 10.3.0, 10.3.1, and 10.3.3 (Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6).

Thanks for your time and any help.

Hmm. Logic 10.4.1. I simply have to press and hold the instrument slot, just like all the other slots behave, to get a list of instruments to pop up. From there it's a simple matter of choosing an instrument and configuring the metronome notes...

Simple click does nothing. Double click opens the instrument.

Click and hold doesn't do it for me either...

I also created a new Software Instrument track with a Kontakt plug-in on it, and not that I would normally do it this way, but I am unable to change that in the environment, too (either by clicking or clicking and holding).

Maybe the number of the instrument channelstrip?
To work for the click, the channelstrip must have the number 256:

Maybe it helps if you reset the existing click-channelstrip,
delete it in the Environment, make a fresh one and set it to number 256.

I have tried that already, but thanks for the suggestion. I did find another workaround – open the Mixer at change track view to "All." There, I can reliably swap the plug-in.
