Logic Pro 9 ESX24 not saving Fazioli Concert Grand settings

I recently purchased the Fazioli Concert Grand Pro software and I am very happy with it. However, I have run into a problem that I need some help with. I am running Logic Pro 9 on a Mac G5 (Quad core, 12 GB RAM, 2.5 GHz processor). I can load the plugins without a problem in my EXS24 sampler. I can also record the piano parts into Logic using either Player Perspective 1 or 2 without a problem. However, when I choose to save a song file using ANY of the "Non-release" plugins (i.e., P1 08 NR; P1 12 NR; P2 08 NR), I get an error message in the EXS24 window that reads:

MISSING: Ebony Concert Grand #2E8847 (for the P1 08 NR plugin) MISSING: Ebony Concert Grand #P27AC8 (for the P1 12 NR plugin) MISSING: Ebony Concert Grand #2E8850 (for the P2 08 NR plugin)

The other "release" plugins work fine when I choose to save the song file, only the non-release plugins are giving me this error message. As such, the EXS24 sampler defaults to its own piano sound, not the Fazioli. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This isn't a solution, just a workaround: Set your project assets so that they don't include EXS 24 samples. That way Logic won't be trying to copy and re-save the instrument samples when you hit save; and you won't get faced with this issue.

Atlas: I apologize. I should have written non-release "instruments". According to the manufacturer, non-release instruments are useful for a classic sound, where no key release is required. These instruments are EXS only.

Eli: Thank you for the workaround suggestion. However, the problem persists. I can save a song (this can be either a new song project or an old song project where I want to substitute a piano plugin with the Fazioli plugin) where I do NOT include the EXS24 samples as you suggested, but once I open the song again I get the error message that the file is missing. Again, this error message occurs ONLY with the non-release (NR) instruments. Any further suggestions? Thank you very much!

Hi Frankie,

Okay, so it's not saving projects that is the issue, it's opening them. What I would suggest at this point is to reload the samples and instruments from their original disc. It seems something got corrupted in the file pathway between the instruments and some of the samples. For some reason it is not finding what it needs to load the instrument properly. Just reinstall them from the original disc and you should be fine.

Hi Eli,

I do not have a disc. I downloaded the files (they are in .rar format) from the Imperfect Samples website onto my PC. I then transferred those rar files onto a CD and transferred them again to my Mac G5. I did this because I did not have an Internet connection on my Mac at the time (this was a month ago). It could very well be that the file or files got corrupted during this process. I already tried reinstalling the samples from the rar files I originally downloaded and this did not solve the problem. I now have an Internet connection on my Mac, so what I will do is download the rar files once again from the Imperfect Samples website directly to my Mac and give it another shot. I'll report back here with my results. Thank you very much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

Re-downloading the Fazioli Concert Grand software directly from the Imperfect Samples website onto my Mac G5 and re-installing the plugins did not correct the problem. The EXS24 is not recognizing the "no-release" variations of the plugins. Suffice it to say, I am happy with the plugins I CAN use, but it would have been great to utilize the full capabilities of the software. I will continue to examine this problem and if I do find a solution or workaround I will post that information here.

Eli: Thank you again for your help.
