Logic Pro 9 EXS Not recognizing loop points

Hey All,

I've discovered a problem in a bunch of my EXS patches.

EXS is not recognizing the loop points in the patches/samples any longer.

These are the old HollowSun patches and a bunch of my old Akai libraries converted within Logic 6.

I checked that the loop points were still in the samples via Peak, they are still there.

I checked within the EXS editor and loop points are still there and turned on.

Weird.

Any ideas?

Logic 9.1.1 OS 10.5.8

Thanks.

It's unlikely this is the problem, but just to rule it out: Make sure "one shot" is turned off for all the zones in the EXS 24 Editor.

One shot is not turned on.

I've done a bit more digging and it seems that what I have happening is the "EXS is cutting notes short" syndrome. LOL.

If I use "Refresh Library" in the dropdown menu at the bottom of the Library pane, it solves the problem temporarily, it seems, until I select another patch.

If I turn off Virtual Memory in EXS Options, the problem goes away. It does show that "Not read from Disk in Time" is catching a bunch of errors.

So, new question is, Why is this only happening in two folders of samples/patches and not in the others?

I have samples and patches separated and have had everything checked/relinked with EXS Manager.

I've used they libraries for years. What may now be causing this?

Thanks again.

This is indeed a mystery. I don't have anything concrete to suggest. What happens if you move the samples in question to a separate folder, or separate location? Does the behavior persist?

I've tried them on three different drives now.

I've tried them after removing all plugins from components.

Still not working.

It seems that this is a not too common problem that has been around awhile, it least from what I'm seeing digging thru related posts around the internet.

Thanks again.

I'm going to try and word this carefully and nicely.

I'm trying. LOL.

I bought a translation/database/relink/instrument/sampler/management/building package recently as this vendor is the only one who makes a translator for a sampler of mine that I use as a "super" EXS, as it can have many layers, FX, mixing and supports onboard VST FX, etc. It's kinda like Kontakt.

Anyways, I thought I'd get the whole package as I needed to relink my EXS patches, and thought it would be neat to be able to build instruments that could be ported more easily to a few different samplers.

I kept having problems with the translation software. The Instrument builder and the manager simply don't seem to work. At all. Much trouble.

Anyways, the vender updated the translation software and helped a bunch, but it took a long time to get that software stable enough to translate my EXS into the other sampler. OK. It's done now. Cool. It seems to have done a good job.

But I had also tried to relink EXS patches/instruments to samples with this vendors sample manager software. I'm pretty sure that that software corrupted the files I used it with, the files that started this thread. I'm not happy about this obviously.

Anyways I fixed it.

I pulled an old HD out of the archives and reloaded all my libraries. I used CdXtract for conversions and Redmatica for the rest to get my EXS library back up and running. Super duper.

Thanks for your help. I think I figured it out. So far everything is working as expected.
