Other samplers progressed with importing new sampler formats, EXS needs to be able to import at least Kontakt files. Kontakt is such the standard like Giga once was and there's some good libraries out too. A good resynthesis function on there would be good also cause EVOC20 isn't cutting it. The resynthesis part could be like how Camel Audio's Alchemy or Imagine Line's Morphine resynthesis works. Also if Fruity Loops' Direct Wave can import 32 bit audio files, why shouldn't EXS be able also. Anyone agree?
 
First thing would be that NI libraries have copy protection (which would render a large number of their better libraries moot).

The fact that Apple is decreasing the cost of Logic, and that Kontakt exists and is already so good, why bother. You can buy Chicken systems Translator to try and convert things to EXS if you want (and it does work on non copy protected libraries).

Just seems to be a waste or resources for Apple to take on NI... at least if I were Apple that would be my story.
 
Yeah I innerstand your point, but how many new people nowadays use giga and samplecell instruments??? The reason for emagic adding those to the EXS is because you couldn't use them normally in Logic. Now if your still using a G4 or G5 mac and you want to use .nki files in Logic without having to deal with Kontakt 4 ram intensive sampler or spending extra money on sample instrument converting software, being able to import .nki files sounds lovely to me, but I still see your point. Do you at least agree with me on being able to import 32 bit files in EXS?
 
EXS will convert 16 and 24 bit to 32 bit via a preference, so it can already do that to a point. I don't know of any 32 bit sample libs, do you?
 
Imagine Line lets you download samples via IL Download program into their Direct Wave sampler. They're 32 bit files most of the time. I can here them good in Direct Wave, but when I put in EXS24, they have this fuzzy sound to it until I convert them to 24 or 16 bit.
 
Just a little footnote here - since it was mentioned in passing: Sample cell import is (and has been) completely broken in the EXS 24 for a while now. I still have libraries from my old SC ll card that, believe it or not, I wouldn't mind still using. Fortunately, over the years, I've converted most of my "go to" sounds. But occasionally I want to convert one that hasn't already been converted; and it is hopeless. Been like that since Logic 8, if not before.
 
ebay, G3 tower, and logic 4 audio. I'm sure you can get them for a real cheap price and can probably use it for just converting those samplecell libraries.
