Logic Pro 9 from Snow leopard logic 9 to next best OS X?

Hey,

I have a late 2009 27" quad-core I7 iMac. It came with Snow leopard and I have never moved to another OX S. Snow leopard 10.6.8 and logic 9 are a match made in heaven. I have had absolutely no problems with system. All my third plug-ins and software running flawlessly. But I think its time to move on to a more current OS. Maybe even upgrade to Logic X but I want to still use logic 9 as well. I've read so many horror stories of those who upgraded their systems that I'm bit afraid to take the plunge. So what do you guys suggest as the best OX S I should I upgrade to and why? And what problems should I anticipate? I have the original duet interface. I use waves, ik multimedia, and Uad 2 satellite for plug-ins. I have some 32 but plug-ins and software too.

Thanks
Rodney

I have a 2011 iMac 2.7 ghz quad core that had 10.6.6 installed on it. I upgraded to 10.8 when it was safe, but when I tried 10.9.1 it didn't do well for me. It seemed like my hard drive was moving slow. So I went back to Mountain Lion and I'm satisfied with that until my computer dies. My suggestion is don't go any higher than 10.8 and do a clean install instead of an upgrade, then add your files afterwards. Also if you have programs still running in Rosetta, you might want to look for intel updates on those before upgrading because snow leopard is the last OS X to run Rosetta. Try running 10.8 on a external volume or partition to see if works on your computer.

Rock solid advice. Thanks for the quick response. Now I have heard of doing a clean install but I quite don't understand how to do it. Like I stated in my first response, I never had any issues with my iMac since I've had it. Would you care to explain in basic terms on how to do a clean install.

Thanks again
