Logic Pro 9 Frozen Help Window!

Hello, all -

Has anyone experienced a frozen Help window in Logic 9? This occurs occasionally here. The built-in Logic Help window, which apparently connects to Apple's database online to retrieve parts of the manual and articles, simply never completes the specified search. The progress wheel keeps spinning indefinitely, but nothing appears in the Help window. Worst of all, it's impossible to cancel the search, or even to close this floating window. Quite a problem if one is in the midst of a project. The only solution which I have found is to completely quit and re-open Logic.

Any "help" on this would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

I haven't experienced what you describe.

But for quite a while I would get an error message when selecting Logic Pro Help from the Help menu. (I kept PDF versions handy to side step this nonsense.)

Funny thing, this behavior stopped after repairing permissions with Cocktail today.

Thank you for the suggestion...I'll try that and see if it makes any difference. Else maybe there's a corrupted preference file that needed to be deleted.

By the way, I was wrong that quitting Logic solves the problem, as the floating Help window continued floating with absolutely no respect for deadlines!

The only solution was to open Activity Monitor, find the offending process (entitled "Help Viewer"), and Quit said Process therein.
