Logic Pro 8 glue tool distorts audio

Hi, when i use the glue tool in Logic to consolidate some kick drums into a four bar section, the samples in the new audio file become distorted (they were ok in the original).

Not sure what i am doing wrong here - it would be nice if the glue would just stick the samples together without messing with the audio.

Would appreciate any suggestions!

What version of Logic are you using? If it's 9, you might be actually bouncing in place, or something like that, where the level can be taken into account during the mixdown or bounce process. What are the fader levels when you do this?

Hope I'm not stating the obvious here - but just for the sake of ruling it out - make sure the track you are playing back the new file on does not have it's level above unity; and that it doesn't have any volume boosting plug ins on it.

Is the audio file distorted when you play it back in the sample editor as well? Or is it just in the Arrange Window? If the latter, correcting the situation I described above should solve it.
