Logic Pro Graphic Glitch?

Hi Everyone! I'm having a little problem with Logic's interface here.
I downloaded some freeware instrument. This is the link, and they are not actually selling. It is free, so it wasn't sketchy.

But now this is happening.

Link to pictures: https://1drv.ms/f/s!ArlkRpSjBolr5S-94_L5v26B0jdP

1) My pan knobs are gone.
2) The red strips on the top aren't supposed to be red.
3) 80% of the instrument icons are gone (you can see now
I only have a few strings and harp).
4) My cursor does not change the its shape when I try to
extend clips.
5) And many more graphic glitches...

Please if somebody knows what's wrong, please advise me!!

Hello,
That is very strange, like some sort of bug.

Is this occurring in all projects since installing the free instrument?
Do projects with just Logic instruments look ok or are the issues you describe - red signature track, missing instrument icons - still there?

Is it the EXS24 version? Can you remove the instrument - drag it from Music folder>Audio Music Apps>Sampler Instruments or where ever you installed it - to the desktop or trash?

I'm not sure why this happened but answering the questions may help point to solutions.

Hi!! Thank you so much for getting back to me.

I noticed that there are more issues than what I described.

- The cursors don't change its shape every time I try to change the tool. But it functions just fine
- Some tools that require certain hot key after esc key cannot be selected by hot keys. For example, if I hit 'esc + A' for the fade tool, it won't change to the fade tool. Also 'esc + 6' for the glue tool won't be selected either by the key command. I can select the tool by using mouse.

Here are the answers to your question.

Is this occurring in all projects since installing the free instrument?
-> Yup! I tried to create a new project and it has the same issue
Do projects with just Logic instruments look ok or are the issues you describe - red signature track, missing instrument icons - still there?
-> Yeah it is happening with Logic, not just the Logic instrument
Is it the EXS24 version? Can you remove the instrument - drag it from Music folder>Audio Music Apps>Sampler Instruments or where ever you installed it - to the desktop or trash?
-> That I can try. And yes it was EXS24 instrument.

Thank you very much again, and I really hope to resolve this...

Do you have a backup of your system such as Time Machine or a clone (Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper) on an external hard drive? We all need to a have back up system in the event there is a need to roll back to a previous stable setup.

Try to reset your preferences: Logic Pro X menu>Prefences>Reset All Preferences Except Key Commands.
Does that resolve your issue?

No unfortunately. For some reasons, my time machine wouldn't work with my external hard drive. It kept failing to back up. So I manually back up my files but I do not have a system back up, which motivates me now to get a new mac since you made a really good point 😛

I tried the reseting, and I think you might find what happened next interesting. I clicked the reset except key commands, and then everything stayed the same from how it looks. But then just so I make sure the key commands are safe, I reloaded my key command preset, and now all my problems regarding key commands caused by this graphic issue (?) are gone. I can hit 'esc + 6' and get the glue tool. But it won't still change the shape.

And the red stripe is still there and now my mini note window is black lol I have no idea why but here is the screen shot.

Some recommended me to re-install Logic, but I'm not confident to safely delete Logic and re-install 🙁

Again, thank you so much for your help and please let me know if you have any further idea! It's been a great help. At least it functions fine now.

Do you have a Guest Login? If not, it's easy to do.
To view this content we will need your consent to set third party cookies.
For more detailed information, see our cookies page.

Once set up, from the Apple menu, log out of your account and log in as a Guest. Just make sure you know your password to log back into your regular account before doing this.

When in the user account, start Logic and create a new project, load a few Apple Loops. Does Logic look normal, or do you still stll the graphics glitches? If it looks normal, then this verifies that something is off in your regluar account. Log out and log back into your regular account.

Reinstalling Logic does come to mind, but you're smart to avoid it unless you have help. Is there an Apple Store in your area that could help tease out your issue?

Hi there.

Thanks a lot for getting back to me again!

First of all, I will definitely try the guest log in! This is a brilliant idea. And second, you are right about re-installing because I cannot guarantee what would happen after...And sadly no, I live in Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada. And as much as there should be an Apple post, I have not seen any in my area. There is an Apple store in downtown Toronto, but that one is always crazy busy and they have been making the worst suggestions in my life.

I did notice that some key functions are still not recovered. For example, command + Q for quitting Logic does not work unless I click the Logic menu to open up the menu. Musical Typing is not working at all. Even if I bring up the window it still does not work. I am surprised by how unknown this issue is (not to demean your incredible help so far, just to point out how I am the first one experiencing it), yet the issue itself seems to bring a tremendous inconvenience.

Anyhow, I will get back to you after trying the guess log in! Thank you for your help again!
